One way to make sure we’re doing our sustainability work right is to ensure that our products are being used a lot – and for a long time.
At Icebug, making products that people need is indeed the very foundation of what we do, since we’ve built the brand on solving the problem of slipping. This how we share that passion and try to give back to the community along the way:
As we like to share stuff we enjoy doing ourselves, all those interested are welcome to join us through our many events – our Icebug Xperiences. This is our collection of events, covering all the events that Icebug arrange. The purpose of Icebug Xperience is to market Icebug values and products and to show people that life is better out in the natural environment. Sometimes in our own backyard here at Icebug HQ.
For FW19 you can join us at many different adventures. One of them is especially worth mentioning when it comes to giving back to the community. This is the Forest Femmes, a concept Icebug launched in August 2016, and that has been a huge success right from the start. We have managed to inspire more women to try trail running, and to eliminate all the mental obstacles they had and to see the beauty of running in the forest, together as a group. If you want to know more about Forest Femmes or all of our other events during 2019, you can do so here: icebugx.com
One other important way to make sure we’re doing our sustainability work right is to make sure our products are being used a lot – and for a long time.
Of course, we do sometimes get leftover stock and models that didn’t make it into production. Some of these shoes we sell for a discount price at our events. Another way of trying to make this as sustainable as possible is to pass these shoes on to people who need them but might not have the possibility to buy them. For example, we have given shoes to organizations for refugees, for homeless people and to school projects in Africa.
The latest example was Black Friday 2018. We didn’t join the rush and had a sale. For every shoe we sold that day we instead gave away another pair of leftover stock to Hej Främling. 50 pair of shoes were sent, making life easier for refugees in the northern part of Sweden. To make sure Icebug products can live as long as possible is an essential part of our work. The same goes for enabling more people to stay active outside, all year round.
