We have the vision to either be able to recycle or to use full Biomass coming from the forest or other sources
EVA or Ethylene vinyl acetate is the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It is commonly used in shoes because it’s lightweight, has excellent shock absorption properties, and is flexible in a wide temperature range. We are also using it in Icebug midsoles, as it delivers the needed level of performance.
Since the start, the focus has been on securing low process waste with good compression molding and transparency in the raw material chain. In this way, we can ensure a longer lifetime of the material.
Every season, we also do tests to make sure the materials are according to Reach, and to keep our RSL guideline regarding chemicals up to date. More recently we have also identified further good possible improvement for a material that is not recyclable today. As such, the post-manufacturing scrap from these materials must be disposed of, rather than reused. We are therefore in the process of mixing in biomass made from algae together with Bloom company.
In the future, we have the vision to either be able to recycle and close the loop or to use full Biomass coming from the forest or other sources. If you can help to support this vision, please contact us!
