Larvik brings you comfort when you need it, no matter where you go. When we developed Larvik Hemp Biosole, we wanted to give you a shoe that looked great while providing all the support you need for light hikes. With a Biosole outsole to provide traction and an upper made of durable of hemp, Larvik Hemp Biosole supports you as well in the mountains and forests as it does while you’re walking around the city.
Hemp is a fantastic material for many reasons. It is completely bio-based, it binds CO2, it grows quickly, and it requires only a third of the amount of water required to grow cotton. In addition, it breathes really well, has anti-bacterial properties and is extremely durable. Larvik is our first shoe in hemp, but it is far from the last!
Larvik is aimed at people with an active, sustainable lifestyle. It has a wide, airy toe box and is made to withstand long walks in both urban environments and forests and mountains. The combination of hemp and nubuck leather is water-repellent and means that Larvik has excellent thermoregulatory properties. It cools your feet when it's hot and warms you when it's cold.
Larvik features Biosole, our new rubber sole that is mostly made of bio-based rubber. Using natural rubber leads to a significantly reduced climate impact and a reduced dependency on oil. This rubber compound is very durable, but what really makes Biosole stand out is that it stays soft even in low temperatures, giving you good grip throughout the year.
Icebug follows the UN's Climate Neutral Now initiative. We measure the entire company's greenhouse gas emissions, reduce them as far as possible and annually compensate for the emissions that cannot be removed. We do this by investing in UN-certified projects that reduce greenhouse gases. We openly report the entire manufacturing chain for each model. The work of making better material choices is ongoing, and we are constantly setting new goals for ourselves. Next up, Icebug must have halved its CO2 emissions by 2030.
