Icebug is Now a Certified B Corporation
Our next step in being a changemaker in the footwear industry.
Icebug has been committed to being a changemaker in the footwear industry for years, and part of that is acknowledging that there’s always room for improvement.
We’ve shared our Owners’ Directives for the first time to show you how being a changemaker is at the center of every decision made at Icebug. You can find them here. In that same vein, we are thrilled to announce that we are now a Certified B Corporation!
The B in B Corp stands for “benefit,” and it is a distinction used to indicate a business that has committed itself to use business as a force for good through a legal restructuring and increased transparency. Businesses that receive B Corporation certification are evaluated on their internal structure and management, as well as their commitments to their workers, customers, the community around them, and the environment.
We were certified in October 2022, but that does not mean we will rest and congratulate ourselves.
B Corp certification is renewed every three years, meaning that we, and our fellow B Corps, must keep working to improve and use business as a force for good. This was already how Icebug conducted business, but now we have made an official commitment! Our performance will be publicly measured against B Lab’s standards, and this will be available for anyone to access.
We share this not to brag but to celebrate that this distinction exists!
If we want to be a catalyst for change in the footwear industry, we must be willing to do what is necessary and be completely transparent. Being a Certified B Corp has brought us another way to be open and share our process with you. This will benefit Icebug in the long run, but that’s not why we do it. We do it so that you know that when you buy a pair of Icebugs, you do as little harm to the planet as possible.
The most environmentally friendly option will always be going barefoot. We’re here to be the next best thing by continually improving on that and holding ourselves accountable.
